LITTLE ROCK – Sam Roberts, senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Stuttgart, and former president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC), has been hired as assistant team leader of the ABSC missions team. Roberts will begin his duties Jan. 14.

Bob Harper, team leader of the ABSC missions team, said the following about Roberts:

"(We are) delighted to welcome Dr. Sam Roberts to help impact lostness statewide and globally through missions endeavors. Dr. Sam has served Arkansas Baptists in many different leadership capacities and has a proven track record of sharing his heart for missions. His primary role on the missions team will be community ministries as well as serving as the assistant team leader.

"Sam’s warm personality and wealth of pastoral experience will serve all of us as Arkansas Baptists well in leading us to new heights in mission work. He has proven himself to be a leader among leaders, especially in leading the church to be involved in missions both locally and abroad," said Harper.

"We are very grateful to have Dr. Sam join us for missions ministry across the state."
