LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled the wording of Issue 1 unconstitutional in a 6-1 decision Oct. 18, upholding a previous Pulaski County Circuit Court decision by Judge Mackie Pierce.

According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Issue 1 proposed enacting "caps on attorneys fees and certain lawsuit damages, while giving legislators final rule making authority over the courts."

Issue 1 will remain on the upcoming November ballot but "no votes for or against the measure be counted in the upcoming election," according to the Democrat-Gazette.
