Green County Baptist Assoc. holds Igniting the Passion rally

Steven GainesGreen County Baptist Association, based in Paragould, Ark., will hold its third annual Igniting the Passion evangelism rally at 6:30 p.m. March 12 at East Side Baptist Church, Paragould. The family-friendly rally will have sessions for each age group, allowing parents to bring their children instead of finding childcare.

The objective of the rally is to call Christians to develop an awareness of the spiritual needs of those around them.

Steven Gaines, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn., will serve as keynote speaker for the adult session; David McClung, who serves on the Arkansas Baptist State Convention missions ministries team, will lead the student session; and Doug Compton, founder of Doug Compton Ministries and speaker, will lead the children’s session.

Creative worship service set for Feb. 2 at WBC

"One Man’s Heart: The Word Brought to Life" will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Williams Baptist College. The creative worship experience is sponsored by Williams’ Felix Goodson Library, and it will be held in the Old Chapel.

Monologue artist Gary Brown will be featured in the service. Brown, who is pastor of North Main Baptist Church, Jonesboro, will present a monologue in costume as a Bible character.

Worship leader Paul Bradley, of Conway, will also be part of the service.

Joel Olive, public services paraprofessional at the library, said the service is intended to give students and community members a chance to experience the use of dramatic arts in special worship formats. He said it is part of an ongoing effort to extend the library’s involvement across the Williams campus.

There is no charge, and the community is encouraged to attend.

Steven Curtis Chapman comes to FBC, Benton

First Baptist Church, Benton, will host Steven Curtis Chapman in concert in his Songs & Stories tour at 7 p.m. Feb. 3. Andrew Peterson and Josh Wilson will also perform.

After performing for sold-out crowds across the country, the tour, sponsored by Show Hope, continues to be in high demand, and as a result, Chapman has continued with a spring leg of the intimate tour.

During the event, Chapman performs songs from his latest album, “re:creation,” and more, including his recent No. 1 hit and GRAMMY-award nominated “Do Everything.” Chapman also opens up about the stories that inspired him to write the songs that have impacted lives around the world.

Additionally, Chapman, Peterson and Wilson showcase their diverse musical talents by playing an extensive variety of instruments (more than 47 on stage), making it a night of nonstop musicianship and entertainment.

Fans are also invited to a special preshow event, Soundcheck and Stories. Two hours prior to each show, Chapman connects with his fans in a personal question and answer session, performs an exclusive acoustic song or two and gives each fan a collectors’ edition autographed poster.

Logos presentation Feb. 6 in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK – A presentation of Logos Bible Software will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, Feb. 6, at the Arkansas Baptist State Convention building, 10 Remington Drive, Little Rock.

The presentation is free to everyone, but registration is required by Jan. 30. Lunch is provided.

Tentative arrangements call for two sessions. The first session will feature an introduction to the software with some attention also being given to Logos’ new products designed to integrate seamlessly with the software. The second session will provide an additional overview of the product, as well as instruction and training for current users.

In addition to a complimentary lunch, registered participants will receive discounted pricing on Logos products.
